Polytimi Farmaki: ViceGovernor of Tourism, Culture and Environment

Born in Kozani, Greece where she currently lives with her husband Evangelos Kazakos, a medical Biopathologist and their two children.

After graduating from the School of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1998, she obtained two postgraduate degrees (MA, MSc) in Criminology, Law and EU Politics at the Panteion University of Athens (1999 – 2002) and an MBA at the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM, 2019). She also holds a PhD from the Department of General Law of the Pantheion University of Athens (2003 – 2007).

Since 2004, she has been teaching Environmental Law as a Scientific Assistant at the Technical University of Western Macedonia.

From 2004 to 2007 she served as a legal advisor of the Waste Management Company of Western Macedonia -DIA.DYMA S.A. specialised in the subjects of regional-level management of waste, public works legislation, and PPP implementation. From 2007 onwards, she serves as a Legal Advisor to the Company for the Development of Western Macedonia – ANKO SA, where she is actively involved in managing major development projects in the region of Western Macedonia.

During the period 2010-2021, she provided legal advice to the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) in establishing and maintaining local businesses.

She has served also as a certified Legal Expert to the Community Programs for Rural Development – Axis 4 (2007-2013) and the LEADER/CLLD (2014-2020).

In 2022 she was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Western Macedonia in the subject “Law and management of natural resources with an emphasis on water resources”. She publishes regularly in academic journals related to Environmental Law and Regional Development.

She is a member of the Committee for Equal Access of People with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs and the Committee for Sustainable Development of the University of Western Macedonia.

During 2018-2019, she served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Koventareios Municipal Library of Kozani and, from 2020 until this day, serves as a Regular Member of the Board of Directors of G.N. Ptolemaida Hospital “Mpodosakeio”.
